INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
Pluralistic counselling is a flexible and collaborative approach that recognises there’s no single way to support everyone. It draws on a range of therapeutic methods and ideas, based on the understanding that different people find different things helpful at different times. Together, we explore what’s most meaningful and effective for you, tailoring the work to suit your individual needs, preferences, and goals.
I also draw on Judith Herman’s trauma approach, which emphasises the importance of safety, trust, and empowerment in healing. Her model recognises that recovery happens in stages, from establishing safety, to processing traumatic memories, and finally rebuilding a sense of connection and meaning. This approach guides my work with clients who have experienced trauma, helping to create a supportive and paced environment for healing.

WALK AND TALK THERAPY
Walk and talk therapy offers the chance to explore your thoughts and feelings while walking side by side in a natural outdoor setting. Walking helps clear the mind and releases endorphins, which can boost mood and reduce stress. Being in nature also calms the nervous system, helping to lower anxiety and promote relaxation. Many people find it easier to open up while moving, and the natural environment adds an extra layer of calm and wellbeing. This approach is a gentle alternative to sitting face to face and can be adapted to suit your pace, comfort, and any health considerations. Walk and talk sessions are weather permitting, with the option to move online or indoors if needed.

HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, focused form of therapy that helps you enter a deeply relaxed state, where your body feels at ease and your mind becomes more open and focused. Techniques like progressive muscle relaxation help release tension, allowing your brain to shift into slower rhythms, typically alpha and theta brain waves, associated with calm, creativity, and access to the subconscious.
This relaxed, natural state, similar to daydreaming or guided meditationis something we all experience, like when we’re drifting off to sleep, lost in a film, or driving on autopilot. It’s familiar and safe, even if we don’t always notice it happening.
In this state, the conscious mind quietens, making space for gentle therapeutic suggestions and deeper inner work. Hypnotherapy can help explore and shift patterns held in the subconscious, supporting change in areas like anxiety, confidence, sleep, or unwanted habits.
Importantly, you’re always in control. Hypnotherapy isn’t like stage hypnosis, it’s a collaborative process, led by your goals and comfort, and grounded in respect for your autonomy.
