ISSUES I CAN HELP WITH | Counselling & Hypnotherapy in Cambridge
Support for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties and more in Cambridge.
Depression or low mood can feel like a persistent heaviness, with low energy, little motivation, and loss of interest in things. Thoughts may turn more negative, and even simple tasks can feel overwhelming.
Anxiety and overthinking can feel like a constant sense of worry or unease. Your mind may race with “what if” thoughts, making it hard to relax or switch off, and even small decisions can feel overwhelming.
Stress and burnout can feel like constant pressure and exhaustion. You may feel overwhelmed, drained, and unable to switch off, with reduced motivation and a sense that even small tasks are too much.
Relationship difficulties
Relationship difficulties can feel confusing and painful. You may feel misunderstood, disconnected, or stuck in repeating patterns, with communication becoming strained and emotions harder to navigate.
Parenting difficulties
Parenting difficulties can feel overwhelming and exhausting. You may feel unsure, stretched thin, or guilty, while trying to meet your child’s needs alongside your own, with little time or space to recharge.
Shame, Guilt, Low self-worh
Shame, guilt, and low self-worth can feel like a heavy inner critic, leaving you feeling not good enough, blaming yourself, and struggling to accept or value who you are.
Perfectionism
Perfectionism can feel like constant pressure to get everything right. You may be highly self-critical, fear mistakes, and struggle to relax or feel satisfied with what you’ve done.
People Pleasing & Boundaries
People-pleasing and boundary difficulties can feel like putting others first at the expense of your own needs. You may struggle to say no, fear disappointing people, and feel overwhelmed or drained as a result.
Self-Harm
Self-harm can be a way some people cope with overwhelming emotions, distress, or numbness. It may bring temporary relief, but is often followed by shame, secrecy, or feeling stuck in a difficult cycle.
Suicidal Thoughts
Suicidal thoughts can feel like being overwhelmed by pain or hopelessness, where it seems hard to see a way forward or believe things could improve. These thoughts can come and go, and often intensify when distress feels unbearable.
Anger & Frustration
Anger and frustration can feel intense and overwhelming, like pressure building inside. You may find yourself easily triggered, irritable, or on edge, with emotions that spill over or feel difficult to control. Sometimes, anger can also be directed inward, showing up as self-criticism or self-attack
Feeling Overwhelmed and Struggling to Regulate Emotions
Feeling overwhelmed and struggling to regulate emotions can feel like everything is too much at once, with emotions quickly building or shifting. You may find it hard to stay grounded, think clearly, or feel in control of your reactions.
Feeling Stuck, Lost or Disconnected
Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected can feel like being on autopilot or unsure of where you are in life. You may feel emotionally numb, directionless, or detached from yourself, others, or your sense of purpose.
Identity Belonging or Feeling " Not Good Enough"
Identity, belonging, and not feeling good enough can feel like uncertainty about who you are or where you fit. You may feel different from others, unworthy of acceptance, or as if you’re constantly trying to prove yourself.
Sleep Difficulties and Racing Thoughts
Sleep difficulties with racing thoughts can feel like your mind won’t switch off at night. Thoughts may feel fast, repetitive, or worry-based, making it hard to relax, settle, or drift into sleep.
Trauma And Abuse Past and Present
Trauma and abuse, past or present, can feel like carrying something overwhelming that still affects how you think, feel, and respond. You may experience fear, distressing memories, emotional numbness, or a sense of not feeling safe or in control.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Reaching out for therapy can feel like an important and sometimes vulnerable step. It can be helpful to know what working together will actually look like before you begin.
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call. This is a relaxed conversation where you can briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. It also gives you a chance to decide whether you would like to go ahead with sessions.
If you choose to continue, we will arrange regular sessions at a pace that works for you. This may be short-term support focused on a specific issue, or longer-term therapy where we take more time to understand what is going on for you and how it is affecting your life.
In the first session, we will talk through what has been difficult, what you would like help with, and what you would like to change. We will also go through confidentiality, the client agreement, and the practical arrangements so everything is clear before we begin.
My aim is to offer a steady, supportive space where you feel listened to, taken seriously, and able to speak openly at your own pace.
