Hi, I’m Klara, a trauma-informed counsellor and hypnotherapist in Cambridge.
I offer counselling and hypnotherapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and more in Cambridge
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
It can sometimes help to know a little about your therapist, so you can get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.
I was born in the Czech Republic and spent some time living in the USA before settling in the UK, where I have now been for over 20 years and completed my training.
I speak both English and Czech, and outside of my work I enjoy being in nature, reading, paddleboarding, travelling, and spending time with my family and friends.
MY APPROACH
I’m warm, friendly, and down to earth in my approach.
I believe that unless we have truly walked in someone else’s shoes, it is not our place to judge their choices or the ways they have learned to cope.
There have been many times in my own life when I’ve said “I would never,” and then found myself doing exactly that. Those experiences have helped me understand how complex life can be, and how much we can learn about ourselves through challenging situations.
These experiences can test our core beliefs and shake our foundations, but they often also bring personal growth. They can be very lonely experiences, and sometimes we benefit from having someone alongside us to help us make sense of them.
LIFE EXPERIENCES AND UNDERSTANDING
As a mother, I understand some of the challenges that come with family life. I also know what it is like to live away from your country of origin and to start again somewhere new, which can bring both opportunities and difficulties.
These experiences have shaped the way I work, helping me to hold a more compassionate and realistic understanding of the challenges people face in everyday life.
MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Alongside my private practice, I work as a volunteer counsellor with Choices, supporting adult survivors of child sexual abuse. This work has deepened my understanding f trauma, emotional regulation, and the importance of creating a safe, respectful therapeutic space.
It continues to inform how I work with clients, particularly around trauma, safety, and emotional overwhelm.
FINDING THE RIGHT THERAPIST
Starting therapy is a very personal decision, and it can help to find someone you feel comfortable with. My aim is to offer a space where you feel safe, respected, and able to talk openly about what is going on for you without pressure or judgement.
If you would like to explore working together, you are welcome to get in touch.
ABOUT ME

WHAT TO EXPECT
Reaching out for therapy can feel like an important and sometimes vulnerable step. It can be helpful to know what working together will actually look like before you begin.
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call. This is a relaxed conversation where you can briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. It also gives you a chance to decide whether you would like to go ahead with sessions.
If you choose to continue, we will arrange regular sessions at a pace that works for you. This may be short-term support focused on a specific issue, or longer-term therapy where we take more time to understand what is going on for you and how it is affecting your life.
In the first session, we will talk through what has been difficult, what you would like help with, and what you would like to change. We will also go through confidentiality, the client agreement, and the practical arrangements so everything is clear before we begin.
My aim is to offer a steady, supportive space where you feel listened to, taken seriously, and able to speak openly at your own pace.
